Italian Food - Make Your Own Gift Baskets

Just about everyone likes Italian food. One way to give someone a gift that they are sure to like is to make your own Italian food gift baskets. Italian food gift baskets can be made on just about any budget and are sure to be a hit with anyone on your gift list.

There are several different ways that you can make your own Italian food gift basket. You can either purchase the products to make your gift basket or you can make your own Italian food to put in the gift basket.

One way to make the Italian food gift basket really sing from the heart is to make your own spaghetti sauce and can it. This is easy to do. After you make your own spaghetti sauce, pour it into sterilized canning jars that can be purchased at any supermarket. You can usually get a case or half a case of quart sized jars with lids for about $5. You can then place them in a large pot, covered with water and boil them for 20 minutes. This will allow for the wax ring that is on the lids to seal and the jar to be air tight.

In addition to spaghetti sauce, you can add some gourmet pasta and perhaps a bottle of Italian wine. You should make sure that your Italian food gift basket is non perishable.

If you want to add sweets, why not add some Italian wedding cookies and pizzelles into an Italian food gift basket. Italian sweets are always a delight, especially around the holidays. If this is an extra wedding gift, you can add an Italian cook book and some utensils as well as sugared almonds. Crescent cookies are also always welcome in an Italian food basket.

You can put in some Italian snacks into the Italian food basket as well. This would include Chickpeas, which when dried and toasted are very good to eat and a healthy snack. Roasted almonds and hazelnuts are also a good idea for entry into an Italian food basket. Be sure to include some nutcrackers if you are including roasted whole nuts such as hazelnuts and almonds.

For something exotic, what about cherries in brandy? This is an Italian delicacy for the adults. Be careful about eating these, though, as one of them will knock your socks off if you have never before had one of these treats.

Use your imagination to make a great Italian food basket as a gift for just about any occasion. You can add in some extras such as pasta dishes and even cook books to make your basket all the more complete. If you are giving your Italian food gift basket as a hostess gift, you can even include some perishables, just as long as you let the hostess know what needs to be refrigerated.
